releases Gema Pearl’s new album
After critical acclaim and first round Grammy nominations for her two albums “Mirror Mirror” and “Red Blooded American Girl”, Gema Pearl was derailed while recording latest album.
A debilitating diagnosis of Lupus and related complications put her career on hold for two years.
Once again Gema took solace in music. Through her faith, her tenacity and sheer determination, she relaunched her life and recording career. Taking advantage of her struggle, Gema Pearl and songwriter/producer partner Lee Brovitz have written a core of songs that touch the heart.
On compositions like “Pretty Please”, John McLane’s sax wails with the torment that Gema endured during her plight. Shane Theriot takes a second bite of the cherry on John Hiatt’s impassioned “Feels Like Rain” and the closing anthem “Can’t Keep A Good Woman Down” says it best with the thematic fortitude of female empowerment. The upshot … a true blues record with heart … TRUE BLUE.
2020 brings the Grammy nominated, Texas blues maven back to the forefront. TRUE BLUE not only features a bevy of bona fide blues tunes but is infused with noted guest guitarists … Rick Derringer, Shane Theriot (Hall & Oates), Arthur Neilson (Shemekia Copeland), Buddy Whittington and Jonathan Edwards on blues harp. Once in a blue moon comes a captivating chanteuse like Gema Pearl …
